The powder metallurgy (PM) and metal additive manufacturing (AM) industries are gearing up for the biggest North American industry conferences of the year in just under a month. POWDERMET2019, International Conference on Powder Metallurgy and Particulate Materials, and the co-located AMPM2019, the Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy Conference, will be in the heart of Phoenix June 23–26, 2019, at the Sheraton Grand. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory researchers, along with scientists at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC) have discovered a solution to a major type of defect in metal 3D-printed parts.

Student attendance at POWDERMET2019, International Conference on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials, and AMPM2019, Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy, could be at an all-time high this year thanks to several grant programs. In total, 75 grants have been awarded to students from colleges and universities from across the country. Students will have a technical poster on display at the conference and present a 10-minute synopsis during a Grant TNT: Talk ‘N Technology session.
