Metal Additive Manufacturing Conference Seeks Technical Papers

The program committee for the Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy Conference (AMPM2020) has issued a “Call for Papers & Posters” covering the latest developments in the fast-growing field of metal additive manufacturing (AM). The AMPM Conference has grown significantly since its debut in 2014 as the only conference focused on metal AM, and this year there will be an entire extra day of technical sessions. This is only the second time that the AMPM Conference will be held with the co-located World Congress on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials (WorldPM2020) will and the International Conference on Tungsten, Refractory & Hardmaterials. All three events will be held in Montréal, Canada, June 27–July 1, 2020, at the Montréal Convention Center.

Metal Injection Molding Association Launches New Website

The Metal Injection Molding Association (MIMA), a trade association that promotes metal injection molding (MIM) powders, components and products, is proud to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website at www.mimaweb.org. The new site features a modern design, improved functionality, and resources for potential MIM end users.

Metal Powder Used for Hydrogen Storage

The first self-sustaining residential home to use Hy2Green, a carbon dioxide–free energy supply system developed by GKN Powder Metallurgy, is officially in use. The energy storage system utilizes metal powder to hold hydrogen as an energy source. The residence, located in South Tyrolian Alps, is not connected to a public power grid.

PM and Metal AM of Titanium Conference Program Available

The program for the conference PMTi2019, Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of Titanium, is now available. PMTi2019 will host global experts on powder metallurgy (PM) and metal additive manufacturing (AM) September 24–27, 2019, in Salt Lake City, Utah at the University of Utah. This is the first time that the conference will be held in the United States.

2019 Powder Metallurgy Design Excellence Award Winners Announced

The winners in the 2019 Powder Metallurgy (PM) Design Excellence Awards competition, sponsored by the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF), demonstrate outstanding examples of PM’s diversity. These component fabricators use PM’s flexibility to push forward new concepts and process controls, and demonstrate the inexhaustible well of capabilities PM can marshal in the service of component design. Designers continue to choose PM for critical applications such as auto engines and transmissions, medical devices, consumer products, hardware, and more.

Nine Grand Prizes and seven Awards of Distinction have been given in this year's competition.
